APOCALYPSE YOUTUBE

Ok, everybody.

It finally happened.

Youtube has suspended Everything Is Terrible's account. This means that you won't be able to watch most of our videos until we find a new home for them.

We're working hard to rebuild, but it's going to take a little while. Sit down, breathe into a paper bag, and try to relax. We will keep you updated. Don't worry, we will continue to post new videos.

Aww Cheer Up, Charlie! Your videos on vimeo showed up fine, but they seemed a little wide for the current page layout...

Oh no, that stinks :( I hope the vids come back up soon.

Youtube are such tools now. I remember the old days before they sold out to corporations, before videos had ads popping out, back when it was the place to post anything and everything

What is wrong with youtube.. they suspend everyone lately!

Looks like it was that creepy Yogi Ogi Dogi dude, Robin Maxwell, who filed the DMCA complaint. Pathetic.

you can read the back story here:
http://www.yogadork.com/2009/08/05/who-is-the-eiei-yoga-farmer-meet-max-thomas-aka-yogi-oki-doki/

where "everything is terrible" is called out by name. i have no problem with mrs. maxwell's comment, personally, but it strikes me as petulant insecurity that she would go to these lengths. as she points out, youtube commenters are not the most aesthetically savvy crowd in the world.

but a "badly edited" video? what amount of context could detract from the humorous absurdity of the shows timbre and the behavior of the characters? it's inherently amusing, mrs. maxwell. get over yourself.

This sucks, I just subscribed yesterday.

It was bound to happen, people. Thank you so much for your kind words and we will get this sorted out to make sure this kind of thing never happens again.

What worries me the most is how will shows like 'Web Soup,' and 'It's On with Alexa Chung' continue without stealing our content? Those poor, awful shows. I hope they can recover from this.

There's only one lesson to take away from this:

Hippies suck.

Good thing I bought the Everything is Terrible DVD, so I have a lot of the old material already! (PLUG!)

WTF!? I just learned about / subscribed to this wonderful site over the weekend! Eric Wareheim (tim and eric awesome show) twittered about 'up with white peopele' - i checked out everythingisterrible.com and found stark similarities between it and T&E and LOVED it! but now it's gone....at least not for too much longer, i hope. keep up the great work, guys - can't wait to see the stuff hosted elsewhere.

shadowblaziken said...

Youtube suspends anyone who submits a video that violates copyright, I guess.

Sucks though, because you'd expect the stuff on Everything Is Terrible to be so old and ridiculously obscure.

Brad Kerr said...

Honestly, if you keep releasing DVDs I'll just buy them forever.

Dead Fish Hands said...

I second Brad Kerr's comment.

Seriously dudes, if you're hurting for EIT I highly recommend you order a DVD and then invite all your friends over to watch it and x the ones who don't enjoy it. That's what I did, and now I'm living life to maximum success!

YouTube Motherfuckers...

I can't live, if living is without you. Sigh. Too bad YouTube doesn't have a sense of humor, or the sense to not side with a total pedo. Why must the creeps win? Where my pro-bono First Amendment lawyers at?

Anonymous said...

What I only discoverd this site yesterday and now everything is gone.

And all because of some stupid yoga hippie with no sense of humor.

Bookmom said...

Please find a way to bring that Yogi Ogi Dogi video back! That was great.

The only way that YouTube is ever going to learn is if they lose viewers in droves. Which they will, as they keep pulling nonsense such as this. It's pretty much all gone to crap anyway now. Damned near impossible to find anything decent (and now with your account suspension, make that officially impossible to find anything decent).

That's it... I'm firing up the Internet Hate Machine... YouTube has fucked over the Internet with impunity until now... Now it's THEIR TURN TO GET FUCKED!!

Chris said...

Sucks.

By the way, that Central Florida Hell video uses the same opening music as the original EPCOT Center souvenir VHS tape. It's true.

Jacob Ruefer said...

Noooooooooooooo. Just when I was starting to get obsessed with your videos! Looks like I'm moving to Vimeo.

Did you pay Google to ban your account so we'd buy more DVDs? Because now I really want a DVD. You should do it more often, because I like buying DVDs.

Sorry to hear that the Yogi Dogi got you guys in Deep Dust Mite Feces.

I was in stitches over the Vita Mix clip, as I was given a Vita Mix as a gift. It actually make great margaritas.

Hoping that Youtube changes its mind and bring back the awesome.

YouTube is great! I watch Anime and the Chocolate Rain guy allllll the time.

It's the best thing that could happen. Vimeo is nice... the HD channel is like no other. Not that you'll be needing that.

Winston said...

so instead of just taking down the specific video they suspend your account? fuckers. as usual youtube takes a chainsaw to deal with a situation that could have been dealt with using a scalpel. Those yoga people will get more backlash now than they bargained for - too bad.

Winston said...

oh yeah, the video is still on the internet including break.com. good think they deleted EIT account and all the unrelated videos!

Hi, can you please make sure your new host is iPhone compatible? I'm a mobile EIT PR machine!

Anonymous said...

Videos can be re-uploaded. The real tragedy is that all of my extraordinarily witty comments are lost forever.

B said...

Dammit...

You can, however, recoup your losses through EIT t-shirts, namely ones with Gary Busey and the phrase "Your worst nightmare, butthorn!" written on them.

I'm a big fan of Motionbox for my videos. Check them out.

YouTube does not check DMCA claims, if someone makes it they get their videos taken down, then it's up to the person they just fucked to try to get YouTube to read a book about FairUse for example, which they may cite in the uploading fine print but don't follow. Most of my subscriptions of YouTube have been taken down for one reason or another, it really pisses me off. I wish The Pirate Bay folks had gone through with making the uncensored video upload site, I was looking forward to that. I think I'm going to have to close my account at YouTube, because this is one of those things that is just wrong, they are fucking the people that give them the fucking numbers to get the fucking adds, and they fuck them daily. If only WalMart clubbed shoppers on the way out of the store and took back items they discovered weren't appropriate for you according to some hippie pedophiles.

We would prefer that you not email her. What's done is done and there's no point in escalating this.

The same company (Google) that owns Youtube owns Blogger, the platform that supports this fair site, so you can see why we're trying not to draw too much attention to ourselves.

Future Schlock said...

...But we do appreciate the sentiment, and all the support we've been getting from you excellent folks. We thought we were fucked when this first happened, but now we're determined to carry on, Youtube be damned. Thanks for sticking with us, dudes!

the death of youtube

she doesn't seem to understand that the video is a honkin hunk of turd vomit.

laura linger said...

Did Jesus still die for my donuts? 'Cause I am used to watching that abortion of a video at least three times a day and I am going through withdrawals.

Anonymous said...

No one won in this situation except the damn trolls, the yoga assholes just look like assholes, the video is all over now, and the guy ends up being labeled a creep even more so, and your account got scrubbed.

Youtube is just feeding the trolls, and so did the stupid yoga people.

Troll encounters 101 should be a prerequisite course before anyone is allowed online.
