LET'S END THIS NATIONAL NIGHTMARE

Hey everybody,
As you probably know, this has been a bad week for us and a lot of people have become upset about our Youtube issues. Despite our requests against it, people have been emailing the copyright holders, even making threats against them.

THIS NEEDS TO STOP IMMEDIATELY.

We appreciate your passion for this site and we cannot describe how much your support has meant to us, but turning these people into scapegoats doesn't help anybody. It just worsens the situation for everyone. Like it or not, they were within their rights to ask for the video to be taken down. They are not the bad guys in this and they did not mean for all this to happen. In fact, the copyright holders contacted Youtube personally asking why they removed our entire channel instead of just the one video and Youtube has not offered any response.

If you want to blame something, blame Youtube for removing ALL our videos instead of just that one or for allowing the hate speech on their site that started all this. How about directing that righteous indignation towards Youtube and petitioning them to change their terms of use policy?

Or better yet, let's just move on. EIT isn't going anywhere and our old videos will be back eventually. So just chill out and leave these people alone. They didn't mean to take our whole channel down, that was Youtube's doing.

How do we complain to YouTube? Heh.

It's of my personal opinion that they shouldn't have the right to ask for the video to be taken down. Copyrights should not be used to silence criticism. I Also believe that YouTube shouldn't be in the business of censoring hate speech.

But my personal opinion doesn't matter much. Anyway, keep up the good work and thanks for putting up with everything!

I always thought that editing and presenting the copyrighted material as a new thing, while still giving credit to the original, was acceptable. Like sampling music.

This is the first I have heard about this shit, so, umm, sorry about all of that. But hey, I just got the movie in the mail, and must say that you guys really outdid yourselves. I watched it twice in two days, a beautiful and inspiring piece of work. I urge anybody who comes to this site more than once a week to buy the DVD if you still can, because it is BAD-FUCKIN-ASS! Thanks, EIT, and hey also, where's those T-shirts, huh??? Peace!

I agree - YouTube's policies are to blame. YouTube wouldn't exist without a huge community of people actively posting and sharing videos (including copyrighted stuff, of which there is PLENTY, and YouTube knows this). IMO, they are being hypocritical when they pull this kind of draconian nonsense while continuing to draw users with their huge repository of copyrighted material.

Would YouTube be nearly as popular if it was just a receptacle for silly homemade videos? Probably not.

Complain to YouTube if you want, but don't expect a reply; they're popular and powerful enough that they can ignore a handful of irritated users.

YouTube is slitting its own throat. Threats against individuals do no good. Always remember that what goes around, comes around.

When YT finally figures this out, it will be too late for them.

I'll be buying your DVD very soon - I've been a huge fan of TV Cangage for a while and you guys are even better! I find it odd however that they yank your stuff on YT and not the Supermarket scene from Death Drug... I'm curious what you guys would do with that flick - that's been one of my favorite films as far as strange shit goes for years... Keep it up! I know how crummy it is when YT censors - I used some audio in some of my videos and gave the creator credit at the end but oh well... www.robotskinning.com

the yogi ogi dogi clip. his wife didn't appreciate us calling him out on being a pedophile. i personally think that the discourse on the guy should continue. it's quite obvious he enjoys touching children. although personally harassing the people involved isn't going to accomplish anything. i'm thinking of re-creating the video personally, since it's not copyright infringement if you don't use the actual footage.

Long live Everything is Terrible!

BTW, here is an amusing video about a similar incident. He expresses my thoughts on the issue perfectly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziNiwNGUV7E

Just watched the DVD. Iw as just oging to say "it was very easy to open." It really was! I wish every DVD came in such easy to open shrink wrap.

Anyway though, I thought I should tell you that it was fucking brilliant and the highest art ever achieved by Jocko Homo Sapien or whatever shit.

It shoots so many really very deep thoughts about humanity into my brain (OMG), but I imagine you either get it or don't when you watch (ha what's to get!) so what's the fucking point of talking about it.

P.S. It's like you were laughing with us through all those Lutheran vignettes (KNLJ anyone?) we stayed up till 3 am to watch getting fucking wasted and then calling the station to harass the security guard about why they didn't play Patterns for Living any more (and we got them on again for a couple months lol). That's a connection I share with one other person who I am lucky enough to have as a girlfriend... anyway. Maybe the jokes on me but this shit is fucking birlliant.

This is just one of the many signs that YouTube is going into a state of decline. YouTube is becoming more and more conservative about what gets posted on their site, and now I see they have a giant advertisement on the front page. If this continues I predict that within five years, YouTube will be so choked up by trying to please corporations and the legal system and that the only videos left will be whining emos talking to their webcams about stuff only they find interesting.

Hell, you guys should find a new site to post videos to, and when you do I'll see if I can suggest some of this info to other popular players who get shit on like myg0t. Since they need a site that won't randomly kill their videos because a few people get upset.

EIT are my idols, and we share the exact same love of crap (they posted a racist puppet video of mine). I'm in the same kind of copyright dispute with the Tommy Wiseau's company (the guy who did The Room) for something I posted legally but got taken down. Now I have to jump through a million hoops to get it back up. But crap is worth fighting for, especially when it's legal content. YouTube has major problems when it comes to observing Fair Use, protected under copyright laws. It's really a nightmare dealing with them, but it has gotten a little better believe it or not. I'm thinking of a Vimeo account. This creates a Chilling Effect. Or a Douche-Chill Effect. Either or.
